How Can I Help?

GCWR has NO paid staff and are 100% volunteer-run. We would love it if you could lend a hand!

Become a Volunteer

We need help with…

  • Picking up animals and transporting to rehabilitators.
  • Answering calls for the Wildlife Rescue Hotline.
  • Baby-sitting wildlife so a rehabilitator can take a trip.
  • Helping out at a rehabilitator’s facility, cleaning cages or feeding animals.
  • Building cages, pens or nest boxes and finding someone to donate the materials! (We will provide drawings/dimensions.)

If you’re able to handle any of these tasks, give us a call! Only rehabilitators are responsible for direct handling of animals. Volunteers serve as helpers.

Become a Rehabilitator

Are you interested in working directly with wildlife, nursing the sick, injured, and orphaned back to health? Attend our education meetings to receive training on wildlife rehabilitation. Several times a year, we host “New Volunteer Orientation” meetings for persons in the local area. In the spring/summer we need folks who are willing to raise baby birds, squirrels, raccoons, and opossums. Please call the hotline and leave a message to receive more information.  (979)-849-0184

*You must be 18+ years of age to handle animals.

We have many tasks for many skill levels. If you’re interested in helping our rescue mission, feel free to call the hotline and leave a message. 979-849-0184
